ACHIEVEMENTS
Since Utah Overpass Action's inception in May 2025, we have achieved the following:
Held 26 overpass events across 5 Utah counties (Salt Lake, Utah, Summit, Weber, Davis).
Held 2 "rapid response" overpass events in response to local extremist activity.
Reached an audience of over 865,000 people via overpass events and social media coverage of protests. Viral social media posts about our protests have reached an additional *5.9 million* people.
Recruited 280+ members/volunteers.
Established partnerships with 8 Utah-based progressive political activism groups and held joint events with 3.
Inspired the creation of 2 new Utah-based overpass messaging groups and guided their startup. Check out We Believe Visibility Brigade (Park City) and Southern Utah Visibility Brigade (St. George) on Instagram!
Developed a growing social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and Reddit that multiplies our reach.
Several core values guide Utah Overpass Action's activity:
Non-Violence - In line with the teaching of social justice leaders like Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we utilize peaceful messaging/event methods only.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - We believe that diversity is strength, that equity is critical to achieving social justice, and that inclusivity makes America great. We are committed to fighting discrimination, and advocating for Utah communities that have been historically marginalized, including immigrants, refugees, people of color, persons with disabilities, and members of the Native, LGBTQ+, and low-income communities.
Patriotism - We deeply love our country, and believe peaceful protest against injustice is fundamentally American and patriotic. By protesting against Trump administration and GOP policies that hurt the American people and workers, we aim to help our country and its government become more effective, just, equitable, and inclusive for ALL Americans.
Inclusive Leadership - We practice inclusive and democratic methods to determine the organization's operations, messaging, and direction.
Utah Overpass Action is proud to serve as a local chapter of Visibility Brigade, a nationwide progressive advocacy organization currently with 214 chapters across 40 states. Visibility Brigade chapters (including UOA) share goals, strategies, and methods (i.e. overpass protest), but operate entirely independently. For more on Visibility Brigade, see their website.
Utah Overpass Action is proud to maintain ongoing partnerships with a range of Utah-based community organizations and progressive activism groups, including but not limited to:
"We Believe" Visibility Brigade (Park City)
The Pro-Active Alliance (Park City)
