IMPACT
Since Utah Overpass Action's inception in May 2025, we have achieved the following:
Held 59 overpass rallies across 6 Utah counties (Salt Lake, Utah, Summit, Weber, Davis, Box Elder). Held 3 "rapid response" overpass events in directly counter local extremist activity.
Held 8 non-overpass rallies at locations such as the Utah State Capitol, SLC ICE Warehouse, Governor's Mansion, SLC Pride Parade, Sundance Film Festival (Park City), etc.
Reached an audience of roughly 1,760,402 people via overpass events and (social) media coverage of protests. Viral social media posts about our protests have reached an additional *13,005,928* people.
Contributed to protests that led a Utah-based real estate company to back out of its planned sale of a warehouse to DHS for a migrant detention center.
Recruited 560+ volunteers.
Established partnerships with 9 Utah-based progressive political activism groups and held joint events with 4.
Supported the creation of 3 new Utah-based overpass rally groups: We Believe Visibility Brigade (Park City), Utah County Visibility Brigade (Utah County), and Southern Utah Visibility Brigade (St. George).
Developed a growing social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and Reddit that multiplies the reach of each UOA activity.
Several core values guide Utah Overpass Action's activity:
Non-Violence - In the spirit of social justice heroes like Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the Dalai Lama, we strictly utilize peaceful methods only. We believe that violence is never the answer, and that political differences can only be effectively resolved via peacefuil dialogue. Accordingly, our messages never encourage or imply violence.
Safety First - We prohibit any actions that pose a risk of danger to our volunteers, to drivers, or to the general public.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - We believe that diversity is strength, that equity is critical to achieving social justice, and that inclusivity makes America great. We are committed to fighting discrimination, and advocating for Utah communities that have been historically marginalized, including immigrants, refugees, people of color, persons with disabilities, and members of the Native, LGBTQ+, and low-income communities.
Patriotism - We deeply love our country, and believe peaceful protest against injustice is fundamentally American and patriotic. By protesting against Trump administration and GOP policies that hurt the American people and workers, we aim to help our country and its government become more effective, just, equitable, and inclusive for ALL Americans.
Independent & Not-For-Profit - We do not make a profit in any way from our work, nor do we accept gifts of any sort that may influence our actions.
Inclusive Leadership - We practice inclusive and democratic methods to determine the organization's operations, messaging, and direction.
